Privacy Policy for Commercial Real Estate Certification Institute (CRECI)

The Commercial Real Estate Certification Institute (CRECI) is an independent certification body that offers credentialing programs for the commercial real estate industry and sets the policies and standards regarding the CMCP program.  CRECI was formed in 2018 by BOMA International and BOMI Certification, Inc., market leaders in commercial real estate education and training.

CRECI respects the privacy of its website visitors.  The following Privacy Policy has been developed to disclose what types of information is gathered and tracked, how the information is used and with whom the information is shared.

What information is collected and how is it used?
We may ask you for certain information, including your name, address, e-mail address, phone number, and payment information (e.g., credit card number and billing address) to complete an application, respond to your request for information or your request to be contacted by us. We may also use the information to contact you to notify you about your application or to respond to requests for information.

Like many web sites, the CRECI website also may collect information about visitors and the way visitors utilize and navigate the CRECI website. For example, the CRECI website may track the pages you visit on the CRECI website, the URL that you visited before you came to the CRECI website, the URL to which you next go, and your IP address. This information helps us to design and improve the CRECI website to better suit our visitors’ needs. We may use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, and to administer the CRECI website. Your IP address also may be used to help identify you and to gather broad demographic information.

All sensitive information sent to CRECI is kept confidential. CRECI does not sell or transfer to third parties any of the information collected automatically from every visitor.

What about “cookies”?
Cookies are pieces of information that a web site transfers to a user’s hard drive for record-keeping purposes while visiting a site. Like most web sites, we may use cookies on certain pages of the CRECI website. Cookies make using the Internet easier by, among other things, saving your passwords and preferences for you. We may also use cookies for web traffic analysis and site navigation. You are free to not accept the cookies by referring to your browser’s “help” feature, but certain features of the CRECI website may not work as intended or may be slowed if you decline to accept cookies.

How do we use your Personal information?
We use personal information collected from you and about you in order to provide our services. The legal basis for this is that it is necessary to perform the certification process for which you have engaged us, to maintain the website or to answer your queries. Specific purposes are:

To deliver products and services: We use your personal information to provide you with the products and services that you have requested.

To respond to your inquiries and provide customer support: We use personal information to communicate with you about the website or services, to manage your account, to provide you with customer support or other services you request, including for administrative or operational purposes relating to our products or services.

To send you reminders: We use personal information to send you important reminders about requirements and deadlines for your certification.

To verify your identity: We use personal information to verify your identity and prevent or detect fraud.

To perform functions as otherwise described to you at the time of collection. 

How will we secure the information that we collect?
We take reasonable technical and organizational precautions to protect the confidentiality, security and integrity of your Personal information.  Although we use security measures to help protect your Personal information against loss, misuse or unauthorized disclosure, we cannot guarantee the security of information transmitted to us over the Internet.  While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal information, there is no guarantee that information may not be accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed

How secure is my credit card information?
When completing your application, your name, e-mail address, mailing address and credit card type/number/expiration date will be required. This information is used specifically to process your application. This information is not used for any other purpose.  CRECI uses secure server software (SSL) that is the industry standard and among the best software available for secure commerce transactions. It encrypts all of the Personal information, including credit card number, name and address, so that it cannot be read as the information travels over the internet.

Do we support ‘Do Not Track’?
Our site and service does not respond to web browser “do not track” signals.  As such, your navigation of our site and service may be tracked as part of the gathering of quantitative user information described above.  If you arrive at our site by way of a link from a third party site that does respond to “do not track” requests, the recognition of any “do not track” request you have initiated will end as soon as you reach our service.

How will we communicate changes to this Privacy Policy to you?
